October 25, 2009 - 04:33 PM Rolaine Bester - rolaine@whonose.co.za I have been lucky enough to escape the hustle and bustle of Cape Town to visit Gecko Creek twice already. With a bit of driving I enjoyed several 'getaway' activities. Hiking trails, a flight over the Cederberg, wine tasting at Cederberg winery, bushman drawings, "Stadsaal" and rock sculptures were amongst them. It's not just a place where you just get away, but also a place where you meet interesting people. Around the camp fire, I met people from all different walks of life. As the night grew darker and the night sounds louder, we decided to challenge the drums. If you ever thought you can't play drums or don't have rhythm, think again! All of us strangers, from all different walks of life, created a rhythym of synergy that danced around the fire and into the night. When all was quiet, looking up at the stars in the black sky is just another reminder of awe. That, as well as the earth and rocky sculptures around me enriched me with positive energy and an appreciation of life. To me, Gecko Creek is a place where I find peace, enthusiasm, freedom and even friends. IP : 198.54.202.210 |
